Snake hops are very common in our country. The most common poisonous snake in Israel is the Israelite viper, and most of the cases of bites, even in animals, are caused by it. It is difficult to keep our animals from getting bitten, as they tend to sniff and play in areas with rocks and bushes, and these are exactly the habitats of the reptiles.
The snake's venom causes many damages in the body of the bitten animal, and mainly causes the breakdown of coagulation proteins in the blood, which is a real danger to life.

How will we recognize that our dog has been bitten? A bitten animal will show swelling and bleeding in the bitten area, often also showing signs of pain, depression, weakness. Sometimes vomiting or nervous symptoms.

In any case of suspicion of a bite, you should seek veterinary treatment as soon as possible - early treatment increases the chances of recovery.

In the event of a bite, the veterinarian will provide immediate life-saving treatment that includes, among other things, intravenous fluid infusion, antibiotic treatment and other supportive treatments accordingly. The serum treatment against snake venom is not always available, and is not necessary in every case of a bite.

Do not try to catch the snake, or suck the venom. The veterinarian will examine the animal and give it immediate life-saving treatment.
